A Little Bit of Garden Chat

This Vacation time makes me not want to work.  I could be a stay at home dog mom.

These two weeks off have been great, I was due for a break.  I spent so much time outside.  We had some cooler days which was nice and I managed to get some stuff done instead, but I have three dogs so it doesn't look like I did anything now.

I pulled all my garlic, pulled some carrots, planted some more things (probably my last crop before the first frost).  I try to be a gardener.  This is the first year I've been successful with carrots!  I'm so stoked as I've been on a carrots and dip kick lately.  I'm attempting to be a beet farmer (Office reference; there will be more), my husband likes them, I don't.  I planted a second round of snap peas about two weeks ago.  I have a pumpkin or a squash that has leaves but hasn't grown for awhile so it might be a goner.  I had one pumpkin last year, it was very exciting.  I don't expect any in time for Halloween this year.

I want a magical garden.  It looks horrid in Winter and I forget how beautiful it looks in Spring with all it's greenery.  I've been sitting out there a lot, just enjoying while I can.  I wish I could have flowers everywhere but, well, my kids.  I love 'em but they are destroyers (our garden beds are raised and we put up a small fence around them).

I always take vacation in October, for quite a few reasons actually, but I like having time to clean up the garden/yard and plant bulbs for Spring.

----Small break to catch a retriever stealing socks-----

I plant a lot of tulips, but only a handful come up. . .mostly because my Shepherd thought I hid them for her to find.  I planted Dahlias the first year we moved in and they only came up once.  And my Hyacinths tend to come up, but I planted them in dumb places.

I'm going to end it here with this, pulling carrots is so satisfying.
